Hajj Costs 2027: Official Fees, Breakdown, and Final Payment Details

The cost of performing Hajj in Indonesia may change each year. The government and the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) determine the annual Hajj Pilgrimage Organizing Cost (BPIH) by considering operational expenses and the services required to support pilgrims throughout their journey to the Holy Land.

For the 1448 H/2027 Hajj season, the average BPIH has been set at IDR 98.47 million per pilgrim. Although the overall cost has increased compared to the previous year, the average remaining payment required from pilgrims has decreased by approximately IDR 3.38 million.

So, how much does Hajj cost in 2027, how is the final payment calculated, and what expenses are included? Here is a complete breakdown to help prospective pilgrims prepare financially.

How Much Does Hajj Cost in 2027?

Following an agreement between the Indonesian government and the DPR RI on October 7, 2026, the average Hajj Pilgrimage Organizing Cost (BPIH) for 2027 was set at IDR 98,466,351.35 per pilgrim.

However, this figure represents the total cost of organizing the pilgrimage, not the amount each pilgrim must pay out of pocket.

According to the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), the total cost is funded through two main sources:

  • Pilgrim-Paid Hajj Cost (Bipih): 55.50% of the total cost, averaging IDR 54,648,825 per pilgrim. This portion is the pilgrim's financial responsibility.
  • Returns on Hajj Fund Investments (Nilai Manfaat): 44.50% of the total cost, averaging IDR 43,817,526.35 per pilgrim. This portion is funded through returns generated from the management of Hajj funds.

In simple terms, BPIH refers to the overall cost of organizing the Hajj pilgrimage, while Bipih is the portion that pilgrims are required to pay.

This funding structure is designed to keep Hajj expenses more affordable while supporting the long-term sustainability of Hajj fund management.

Hajj Costs 2027: Final Payment Breakdown

Although the average Bipih for 2027 is IDR 54,648,825, pilgrims who have already paid their initial Hajj deposit do not need to pay the full amount again.

Several deductions are applied to determine the remaining balance.

The following table shows the average Hajj payment calculation for 2027:

Based on this calculation, the average remaining Hajj payment for 2027 is IDR 23,048,825, approximately IDR 3.38 million lower than the previous year.

According to the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), this adjustment is part of an effort to make Hajj more financially accessible while maintaining the sustainability of Hajj funds.

It is important to note that these figures represent national averages. The actual amount each pilgrim must pay may vary depending on their departure embarkation point, virtual account balance, and applicable regulations.
