Inspire and Financial Literacy Education of Ala Bank Muamalat in the Scavenger Village

 

Jakarta, April 4, 2019 - Welcoming the 27th milad, PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk held Voluntary Day activities in pemulung village, Koja District, North Jakarta. Bank Muamalat employees volunteer and teach financial literacy for children in the neighborhood.

 

Bank Muamalat Chief Executive Officer Achmad K. Permana said, this activity aims to arouse a sense of humanity as well as a real form of corporate social responsibility towards the environment. Children in the scavenger environment are also expected to be inspired so that they are eager to learn and pursue their dreams.

 

"Children are the future of the nation. Therefore, we believe that good education from the beginning they will be educated and dare to dream for their future. This activity is also in line with the #AyoHijrah movement that we campaign. This activity was held on Thursday, April 4, 2019 in collaboration with Baitulmaal Muamalat (BMM) and PKPU Human Initiative. In addition to introducing financial management from an early age, Bank Muamalat also helps complete learning facilities in the form of textbooks and educational games. The assistance came from donations from Bank Muamalat employees.

 

Based on the National Survey on Financial Literacy and Inclusion conducted by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in 2016, the Indonesian Islamic Financial Literacy Index was at the level of 8.1%, while the Islamic Financial Inclusion Index was at the level of 11.06%. This makes the financial industry's market share, especially sharia banking in Indonesia still in the range of 6%.

 

Previously, in order to foster reading interest and increase in financial literacy, Bank Muamalat also carried out social activities through the mobile library program by visiting Kampung Tengah 13 Public Islamic School, East Jakarta late last year. Then, in January, a performance car also visited students in Pandeglang, Banten, in order to recover trauma after the tsunami disaster some time ago.

 

For information, the 27th anniversary of Bank Muamalat falls on May 1, 2019. On March 24, the company has held a Fun Walk in the Sudirman Car Free Day area, Jakarta. The series of milad events were closed with a funeral at the Muamalat Tower building on 2 May 2019.
