Muamalat Mobile Library Visits Sunda Strait Tsunami Victims

 

JAKARTA, January 18, 2019 - Mobil Prestasi Muamalat (MPM) visited tsunami-affected schools in Pandeglang District, Banten. The visit was in the context of post-disaster trauma recovery or trauma healing that was greatly needed by the victims.

 

Chief Executive Officer of PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk. Achmad K. Permana said, MPM is a mobile library aimed at growing children's interest in reading. He hopes, with MPM's visit to school in Banten, it can help restore the trauma of students through interactive fairy tales and quality reading books. "After the tsunami disaster, of course, leaving grief and trauma to the victims, we therefore provide psychosocial assistance," he said.

 

MPM, which is operated by PKPU Human Initiative, collaborates with Kampung Dongeng Indonesia to provide educational entertainment for school children. Car achievements go around for 4 days (8-11 January 2019) and visit 8 points affected by disasters around Pandeglang. The total beneficiaries of this MPM visit were 1,417 people.

 

Iip Rifai, Principal of Sumur 3 Sumur Middle School, Iip Rifai, said that due to the tsunami, many school facilities were damaged and lost. Therefore, he hopes that the presence of MPM can restore students' enthusiasm for learning.

 

"A big thank you for visiting the mobile library of Bank Muamalat. Also to PKPU and Kampung Dongeng. Hopefully this noble task will get a reply from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, "he said.

 

Previously, Bank Muamalat along with Baitulmaal Muamalat (BMM) had already distributed aid to tsunami victims centered in the Pandeglang and South Lampung regions. The total aid distributed was valued at Rp150 million in the form of clothing and food.

 

In the future, Bank Muamalat and BMM plan to provide more assistance in the form of community economic empowerment. The main target is small beachside traders whose businesses have been affected by the tsunami. The assistance provided is expected to be used as their initial capital to start a business again.

 

The Sunda Strait tsunami disaster response period for the Pandeglang Regency level ended on January 5, 2019. Whereas the Banten Province level ends on January 9, 2019.
