Bank Muamalat Brings Out #AyoHijrah in Makassar

Makassar, 21 November 2018 - PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk. ("Bank Muamalat") continues the #Ayo campaign. Moves to eastern Indonesia by holding Customer Gathering in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

Bank Muamalat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Achmad K. Permana said, Makassar was the location of the second customer gathering after Surabaya. This city was chosen because of its rapid economic growth and considerable potential for sharia economic development.

"Makassar can be said to be the gateway in eastern Indonesia. By holding the #yoHijrah campaign in this city we want more people to emigrate specifically in financial services, "he said.

This activity was attended by a number of community leaders in Makassar, including the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema AG Council, AG Sanusi Baco and CEO Kalla Automotive Hariadi Kaimuddin (need confirmation). In front of customers, Bank Muamalat introduces a new name for products that use the word "Hijrah". Examples are iB Hijrah Savings, iB Hijrah Savings Savings and iB Hijrah Deposits.

One of the business potentials that can be developed in South Sulawesi is Hajj and Umrah services. This is because the majority of the population is Muslim and the interest in going to Hajj is quite high. As an illustration, based on data from the Ministry of Religion, South Sulawesi ranks seventh for the regular Hajj quota in 2018 as many as 7,247 people.

The #AyoHijrah campaign was first launched on October 8, 2018 in Jakarta. Permana said that he hopes that people's lives can be more blessed because they use financial services that are in accordance with the Sharia.
"The concept of emigrating is simple and can be started from small things. Talking about banking services can start from opening a savings account in an Islamic bank. And for those who already have it, they should complement it with other Islamic financial products, "he added.

In addition, as the first Islamic bank in Indonesia, Bank Muamalat wants to contribute to improving financial literacy and inclusion through this movement. At present Bank Muamalat contributes to 15% of the market share of Islamic banks nationally.
