Bank Muamalat's visit to Alibaba and Twitter to explore potential cooperation

Jakarta, April 25, 2019 - The digital era that is growing rapidly requires companies to adapt quickly, one of them is through collaboration with companies that have competence in the digital world. Therefore, PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk. ("Bank Muamalat") held a 'I Possible' program that partners with well-known startup companies.

In the program that has entered batch 3, Bank Muamalat employees visited the Alibaba Group and Twitter offices on April 16, 2019. Previously, pioneers of Islamic banks in Indonesia visited Bukalapak and Tiket.com in batch 2 last January and Elevenia and Coils in batch 1 late last year. Some of the start-up companies that have been visited already have collaborative programs implemented.

Bank Muamalat Chief Human Capital Officer Riksa Prakoso said, in addition to aiming to build a culture of continuous learning and honing self-abilities, through this program Bank Muamalat proved that the company is ready to face the digital era and open up the potential for extensive cooperation with all technology companies & startups.

"We want employees to be able to learn about new innovations from technology companies and startups that can later be implemented in the company but without leaving the values as a Islamic bank," he said.

Bank Muamalat's attention to the digital world, said Riksa, is also a form of implementation of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) regulations regarding the implementation of digital banking services No.12 / POJK.03 / 2018. In addition, this visit also opens opportunities for further business cooperation such as product bundling or opening a fund holding account for startup companies at Bank Muamalat. This is in line with the #AyoHijrah campaign run by Bank Muamalat.

"Regarding business cooperation, we have cooperated with one of the startups which is the result of the I Possible program," he added.

For information, Bank Muamalat recently established a business partnership with PT Ammana Fintek Syariah (Ammana), a financial technology company (Tekfin) Syariah which is engaged in peer-to-peer (P2P) lending investment. Bank Muamalat acts as an escrow account agent for Ammana.
