Bank Muamalat Provides Rp.360 Million Scholarship to Santri

 
Jakarta, October 7, 2018 - PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk. together with Baitulmaal Muamalat (BMM) provided scholarships worth Rp.360 million to Islamic boarding school students guided by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).

The scholarship is given on the sidelines of the 2018 Santri Expo which is held from Friday to Sunday (5-7 October 2018) in Surakarta, Central Java. In the event attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrowi, Bank Muamalat participated as a sponsor.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bank Muamalat Achmad K. Permana said that the educational assistance was aimed at reducing the cost of education or living expenses of students while studying at the pesantren.

"As an Islamic bank we want to contribute to the development of Islamic-based education. We hope that through this scholarship assistance a generation that is not only smart but also noble will be born, "he said.

The scholarship distribution is in collaboration with the Rabithah Ma'ahid Islamiyah as the NU institution which is tasked with carrying out policies in the development of Islamic boarding schools and religious education. Scholarships will be given to students from 60 selected pesantren.

Distribution of scholarship funds to students is carried out every month for a full year. Every month students receive funds worth Rp500,000 which are transferred to the account of Bank Muamalat owned by each recipient.

For information, Bank Muamalat has a superior education assistance program called Muamalat Achievement School. This program is in the form of educational assistance for students from underprivileged families and facilities and infrastructure to improve the quality of teaching and learning activities.

Some Islamic boarding schools that have received assistance include the Daarul Qur'an Boarding School Wal Hufadz and Raudhatul Ulum in Palembang, as well as the An-Nawawi Tanara Islamic Boarding School, Banten assisted by KH Ma'ruf Amin.
