An Indonesian citizen, born in Bogor on November 18, 1969. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Economics from Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in 1992, a Master’s in Agribusiness Management from IPB in 1994, and a Doctorate in Management and Business from IPB in 2011.

Mr. Saptono has held key leadership roles, including President Director of PT Bank BNI Syariah (2016–2017), Business Director of PT Bank BNI Syariah (2012–2016), and Risk and Compliance Director of PT Bank BNI Syariah (2010–2012). His prior roles include Vice President Corporate Secretary at PT Bank Permata Tbk (2005–2007) and Head of Investor Relations at PT Bank Permata Tbk (2003–2005). Furthermore, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Waqf Board (2017–2024).

He was appointed as the President Director of PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk during the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders held on December 11, 2024, and has received the effective approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) as of March 24, 2025.

He has served as Deputy of Risk Management at the Hajj Financial Management Agency (2018-2022), Head of Risk Management at PT Bank Panin Dubai Syariah Tbk (2016-2018), Head of Risk Management Department of PT Bank BCA Syariah (2013-2016), and Head of Mataram and Purwokerto Branch of PT Bank Bukopin Tbk (2011-2013).

He has served as Compliance, Risk & Legal Director of PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk since his appointment at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders dated June 24, 2022 and has received an effective decision from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) since October 3, 2022. He was reappointed as Compliance Director at the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk on December 11, 2024.
