Bank Muamalat Capital Injection

Jakarta, December 31, 2021 – PT Bank Muamalat Indonesia Tbk has received an injection of Rp1 trillion from the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH).

President Director of Bank Muamalat Indonesia, Achmad K. Permana said the entry of the funds was after BPKH exercised its rights as the majority shareholder in the company's rights issue process, the distribution of which had begun on December 29, 2021.

“The funds will be included in the tier I capital component. Apart from being used to strengthen the capital structure, the funds will be used for the company's business expansion. With the influx of fresh funds, we are optimistic that Bank Muamalat's performance will increase next year," he said.

The new shares issued in this corporate action are a maximum of 39,810,039,107 (thirty-nine billion eight hundred ten million thirty-nine thousand one hundred seven) new Series C shares with a nominal value of Rp.30 per share. The prospectus published by the company states that the Preemptive Rights trading period will take place from December 30th, 2021, until January 7th, 2022.

In addition, the company will also issue subordinated instruments up to IDR 2 trillion which will be included in the tier 2 capital component. The entire series of corporate actions are targeted to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.

For information, as of November 16, 2021, the majority shareholder of Bank Muamalat officially switched from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) through a share grant transaction scheme. Thus, currently, BPKH holds 78.45% of the company's shares and also acts as the Controlling Shareholder (PSP).
